Givens Communities believes that personal and professional growth are essential for team members to experience true satisfaction and fulfillment. To help our team members achieve their full potential, we have invested in a variety of programs and opportunities designed to support career advancement. As a leader in the industry, Givens Communities stands out as the only senior living organization in the state to offer a certified Career Coach as part of our team. The Career Coach is dedicated to guiding our team members in their journey to becoming their best selves, no matter what that looks like for each individual.
Givens sees an average of 50 internal promotions each year!
Givens is committed to providing accessible and practical opportunities for our team members to develop themselves personally and professionally. Our Career Growth Program is an innovative approach to bringing these opportunities to the workplace, as it is a weekly class held on site and during work hours. Led by our own certified Career Coach, team members are paid to attend this class and invest in themselves through various modules on topics such as Effective Leadership, Accountability, Building Relationships, Effective Delegation and more.
By the end of the course, each team member will develop their own project to contribute to the growth and advancement of the organization. These projects are then presented by each student to residents and other team members to also develop each participant’s public speaking skills. This course runs throughout the year, with approximately 42 new team members completing the course each year.
The Givens Cultivator Program is another leadership focused program designed to empower team members in their specific department. When a team member goes through the Cultivator Program they learn how to lead, train, and develop new hires as they join their team.
To participate in the Cultivator Program team members are nominated by their supervisor as an individual who they see leadership potential in and would like to invest in their personal and professional growth.
In February of 2023, Givens launched our own Earn While You Learn Nurse Aide I course. Taught by our own Communities Clinical Educator, this is a state certified course where students are paid to attend class, clinicals, and resident assistant shifts. Givens also covers all costs around books, exam fees, and uniforms. In return, Givens asks for a 1-year commitment to working in one of our clinical settings.
This 9 ½ week course is available to the public as well as current, internal team members who are interested in growing their career. Students gain experience in our own Skilled Nursing buildings, providing an added level of confidence in their transition to practice as they have already become familiar with residents, team members, and our culture and expectations.
As of December 2025, we have graduated 5 classes totaling over 25 students.
